Appliance Age & Inspection Planner / methodology notes

How Home Record calculates your result

Create an appliance record, organize inspection observations, and plan replacement reserves without guessing serial-number codes or declaring equipment safe.

Start with evidence, not a score

Record whether the known date is installation, manufacturer-confirmed manufacture, or unknown. Never guess a serial-number decoding rule. Preserve original inspection wording, evidence, severity, and recommended action. Keep safety findings ahead of budget planning.

Read the assumptions

Build an explicit replacement-cost range and a monthly reserve scenario from user-entered prices, tax, labor, and timing. Age and model identity cannot establish safety. This tool does not inspect appliances, validate a serial code, diagnose faults, or replace qualified inspection.

Use a reproducible workflow

Enter your own measurements or import records using the published CSV schema. Save a local scenario before making a change, compare the result, and export a copy with the assumptions intact. Example inputs are not a verified catalog or a live data feed. The source references explain the underlying terminology; they do not independently verify information you enter.
